I am so tickled to see the youngest of the Wyoming Eshelman clan taking the step toward family-hood. I have so many stories to tell Gus about his dad, and the experiences we had together.
Little Gus ( Oliver Augustus) became a third generation Wyomingite (which carries great importance for Wyomingites), a 5th generation NRA Life Member (carries great importance for me, his granddad), and a 10th generation American as far as I can tell.
Quite an accomplishment for a baby not 5 months old already.
My prayer is that I am around long enough to do “guy’s days out”: fishing the Cheyenne lakes, attending the Colorado Outdoor Show to find the best place to go fishing in Canada, being there when you shoot your first targets, ride your first horse, harvest your first rabbit/ antelope/ deer/ elk, catch your first trout, drive your first car, and catch that monster pike in Canada. I did most of those things with your dad. A couple are still on my bucket list with your dad.
Treat your mom and dad with respect and appreciation. Your mom is one of the nicest ladies I ever met. I am still waiting for her to show her true colors, as they say.
I loved your dad from the day I met him. He was very calm when they took grandma away because her medical signs were real bad after his birth. Seems like that was his demeanor for most of his life, calm that is.
Cherish your folks. You won’t find any better to be your parents, and give them kisses from pap as often as possible.
